Parents!
I dropped in to have lunch with my 7th grader last week (Red Velvet FroYo...YUMMERS) and her science teacher (Dr. B) stopped me for a chat. He gave me an in-depth report on a recent homework assignment that was just a bit below par and (get this) told me he had a few ideas that we could try at home to help my lady Vike excel! Certainly, this was fabulous! I mean, where else does this type of interaction occur on a regular basis? Only at CA. But I digress.
After my chat, I realized that I was falling down on the job. I know, hard to believe! How could a guy so cool, calm and worldly (I have visited the Y bridge in Zanesville) be so out of step with what is required for my student's success?!? So...I searched deep inside and realized that my downfall was my lack of Moodle expertise! I wasn't Moodle savvy!!
So, I did some investigation. From what I understand Moodle is the ultimate I-device. It allows parents to Investigate, Intercept, Intrude, Invoke, Inspire, Involve, Insure and Inspect what students are, and what they should be doing each and every day! Still, I was woefully Inept when it came to using Moodle Intelligently. I had looked in the US and MS libraries for a copy of Moodle for Dummies...no luck. So Viking Nation, I did what 98% of you have been doing all along...I just logged in.
Dear Viking parents (VP's), I had no idea just how great an ally Moodle can be to parents! I was Immediately Inspirational, Intelligent, Insightful, Instinctive, Inquisitive, Innovative and best of all Influential! Like my brain, there are parts of Moodle that I have not yet accessed. I think it would be a great idea if there were a one hour seminar (coffee included) regarding Moodle best practices. What say you Viking Nation? Anyone want to learn how to use the ultimate I-device?
If you're interested, let us know!
Nice post, Kevin! Great reminder to check it more often! I must confess I didn't quite get it so if you have a coffee I will be there
