Fuzz Busting

Sunday, August 19, 2012
The wonderful Gahanna Police Department is well aware that Columbus Academy goes back in session on August 22.  Never fear, they will be ready to protect and serve, but they will also be ready to BUST us for our collective lead feet.   And honestly, who among us has not sped down Cherry Bottom or perhaps "rolled" a few of those stop signs on Beecher?

In hopes that our parent community will not contribute to the Gahanna Police Department's ticket quota, this PACA blogger thought she would offer a few tips to keep us free from the fuzz:

  • The speed limit on Cherry Bottom Road is 25 mph.  Tempting as it is to fly down that wooded stretch, jammin' it out to Carly Rae Jepsen, I would suggest restraint.

  • If you are coming from Morse Road, you will frequently find officers lurking in the entrance to Academy Park or in the back parking lot of the shopping center behind Rotelli's.  They don't mess around.  There is nothing more humiliating than getting pulled over while other parents drive by, craning their necks to see who has been caught.

  • The "shortcut" off Morse Road— you know, the one that lets you skip the signal— if you don't come to a complete stop when making the right turn onto Cherry Bottom, they will ticket you.  I speak from experience.

  • The back neighborhood on Beecher Road: again, they will ticket if you roll through the stop sign and a patrol car can frequently be found on the side streets, ready for speeders and text-ers.

  • One final note: Just because you successfully make it onto CA property, you still need to keep your nose clean.  That means not parking in fire lanes for anything more than a super quick run into a building.  You will get a parking ticket— as I did after I parked there when running late for a child's birthday celebration.  Awesomesauce.

Learn from past mistakes (namely mine) and save your $$$ for tuition rather than for traffic violations!  Anybody have anything to add? Leave a comment below or contact us!

Does anyone know why the lower school skorts cannot have pleats??? I just found out and there are not many skorts out there with some sort of pleat. Help!

  1. Hi! I would not worry too much about the pleat situation on the skorts. I have seen quite a few styles cruising the halls of lower school without any problem. If you are looking for skorts, I would recommend checking the "gently used" school closet, which is an awesome free resource and has a large selection for clothing for the younger set, in particular. It is open all time and can be found down the hall where the nurse's office is located.
